NBCC Survey - Information
DNA.Land and NBCC
Since 1991, the NBCC has been a leader in the fight against Breast Cancer, with an unmatched record of accomplishments. We are honored to partner with them, and to aid in their initiative to know how to end Breast Cancer by January 1, 2020. In this survey, we ask you to answer questions relating to the occurrence of breast cancer in your family. This information, paired with your genomic information, will aid the NBCC's important research. Even if you do not have a history of breast cancer in your family, your participation in our study is essential to its success: To find genetic features that are linked to cancer, researchers must compare genomes of people with cancer to those without.
Family Tree information
In this section of the survey, we ask you to provide information about you family tree. For the purposes of NBCC's research, it is best if you share information about all of your first degree relatives. This group includes all known genetic parents, siblings, and children. Each of your first-degree relatives shares approximately half of their DNA with you. An example of a partially-completed Family Tree can be found below.
Breast Cancer Survey
If you or any of your first-degree relatives have been diagnosed with breast cancer, then we ask a number of questions relative to the respective diagnoses and subsequent treatments. While filling out this survey, if there is a piece of information you are not able to offer, you may select "I don't know" as the answer in the drop-down menu. If the answer you would like to offer for a diagnosis is not listed in our drop down menu, you many share it in the "Other diagnosis descriptors" field.
When you are ready to submit your completed Family Tree, you can do so by:
- Clicking on the grey "Submit" button.
- Selecting the option that reads "This information is complete and accurate".
- Clicking on the blue "Submit Data" button.
